TomMagner@sprintmail.com MagnerJ@aol.com

Descendants of John Magnier

Generation No. 1

1. JOHN2 MAGNIER (JOHN1 MAGNER) was born Abt. 1840 in County Cork, IR, and died April 16, 1899 in Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ. He married MARY O'DONOGHUE [variant spellings such as Donoghue, etc.] February 03, 1866 in Church of the Nativity, Ballyhooly, Cork, IR, daughter of CORNELIUS O'DONOGHUE and HANNAH [Surname Unknown].

Notes for JOHN MAGNIER:

Evidence from census and church records strongly indicate that John Magner (1840-1899) was the half brother of Thomas Magnier (1860-1914) with a common father John Magner (1802-1884). This John Magnier we believe it related to the Magner/ Sweeney & Magner/ Ford Family Trees.

John Magnier named his children Magner but he retained Magnier.

Thomas Magnier changed his name and his children’s name to Magner as did his brother Michael Magner

Records indicate both Families lived together for a short time, then lived next to each other. Both families shared social and religious activities at the same ST. Michael’s RC Church in Jersey City, NJ. The children called each other cousin and no intermarriage existed as if related. Yet no documentation of relationship has been found

John married Mary O'Donoghue in Ireland they had five children, Immigrated to USA 1877, and located in Jersey City, Hudson County, NJ and there had three more children.
