Thank you for the response to the question regarding my g-grandparents. I can give you the birth date of my g-grandmother. She was born Margaret Barry on 21 November 1879 in County Cork Ireland. She died on 27 November 1972 South Western hospital Stockwell. I will be grateful for any info received. I think that there is a Father Daniel Magner in London that is somehow related to my family. Thank you yours Michael+ yvonne.

I am hoping someone can clarify my great-grandfathers correct father....and have been told that his father was Azariah (on that family tree it says "his son Henry was born in Ohio and moved and stayed in Iowa" This is true of my g-grandfather. He came to Tama, Iowa where he died.. ...However I received a copy of his Marriage license to my g-grandmother Sarah Shaffer and on this he is listed as supposedly a Henry Jr. I would appreciate any help with this confusion.

He left Ireland sometime between 1848 and 1850 without his family, who later joined him in New York. That's all we know. We don't know anything about his mother or father, sisters or brothers. He married a woman born in England named Ann Vicary. I'm going to The Family History Library in Salt Lake City on July 12th and I was wondering if you had any information that could help?

> In response to your answer to my Query of November 2000. The Magner I have is Edward Thomas Magner born 6-27-1860 Died 8-18-1936. He married Alice Mae Conrad, born 4-21-1868 died 8-5-37. I have no date for their wedding.

They were farmers in Mercer County Pa, located near All Saints Church. Edward was also a carpenter. He was a violinist, country style, and was much in demand for dances and parties throughout the area. They had five children, Frances Magner born 7020-1892, Died 9-17-86, married Edward Smith "Ted" Wiesen. Hellen Eleanor Mager born 1-1-1893 Died 1-22-1959 married Charles Paul Donahue. John Henry Magner, born 6-3-1895, died 8-31-1967, married Mary Jospehine Dougherty. Marguerite Magner, Born 8-24-1897 Died 3-17-80, married Myron E. Lee. Frederick Magner born 1900 date of death unknown, married Barbara English.

Alice Conrad would be the sister of my Grandmother Mary Margaret Conrad. I couldn't find a match in your family trees but maybe I didn't look the right place? I know this family was very influential and a favorite with the entire clan. Let me know if you are interested in more descendants of these families as I have that information.

Ref. "I only have information on one of the 5, the son, Joseph, aka MMOM1 Joseph Magner, USN. He was born on May 16, 1920 and he was killed on board the USS Trout while attacking a Japanese convoy near the Philippines on February 29, 1944. The Trout was sunk in the attack taking all hands."

My Uncle Harold Tierney was also aboard the USS Trout at that time. My Grandmother Marie Bridgetta Tierney wrote and received correspondence back from all family members. However, these letters which she so carefully kept have now been lost. I would be interested if you know of anyone having a copy of correspondence from my Grandmother. I believe she was living in Iowa at the time of Harold's death.

Thanks in advance if you are able to help.

Thank you for all your Magner information.

I have checked out the Family Tree of Magner/Hennessy. But it is a generation ahead of where I need to look.

The only reason I said "Banshee", Tipperary, was it is written on the death certificate of John Hennessy as his birth place,(possibly mid 1820's) and the person writing it it NE Victoria, AUS, probably had no idea where it was. His mother is listed as Mary Hennessy formerly Magner. His father John Hennessy is listed as Farmer.

I am looking for a possible connection between Charles Magnor  (Virginia,1626) and my ancestor, John Maner  (Maynor, Mainer, Mayner or  variants), who lived in Surry County, Va. in the mid- to late 1600's. Do you know Charles's wife's name and those of any possible children? Also,

Jim, The question was, "do you have roots going back that far?" My brother spent years tracing and documenting our line, but when he got back to our g-g-g-g-g-g-grandfather John Maner (Maynor) who was in Surry County, Va. in  the 1670's all records seemed to dry up, with immigration records showing no "Maner" or variant spelling before that time, Charles Magnor being the  closest in spelling and time. I wondered if Charles or a descendant might  have "anglesized" the spelling to "Maynor" and become my g-g-g-g-g-g-g. Richard

Jim, Thank

you very much for your quick reply! I suspected that Charles (the boy) and  Charles (the plantation owner) were the same, but was boggled by the short  time span. The Colonial Heights page  (www.Colonial heights.com/HistoryCH.htm) says that he sold the plantation  after only eight years. As for the name  pronunciation, do you think that the "g" might be silent, or pronounced like  "i" or "y", thus yielding "Maynor" or something

similar?

Searching for any information on Patrick McNamara married to Bridget Magner, Clare, Ireland . Their children that I know of were Thomas 1835, Francis Augustus 1839, Honor 1840,Bridget Bessie 1848, Catherine Agnes 1847, and Susan 1860. I am unsure of Patrick and Bridget but I know that most of their children left Ireland in the 1860's for New Zealand where they settled for about 20 years and then went to Victoria, Australia with their families.
