The inscription on the monument in Irish is below. Basically it translates as follows:

"In fond memory of

Canon, Parish Priest*

Irish Republican Army
Who were killed here
By a Company of English Black and Tans
15^th December 1920
R.I.P
Pray for the Souls"

Fr. Magner was the Parish Priest of St Patrick's Church, Dunmanway, Co Cork
